Corporators
The Members of the Corporation of Schepens Eye Research Institute are individuals who advocate and support the Institute's mission:
...fighting blindness by developing new knowledge, therapies and technology to preserve and restore vision.
General Information
Corporators have a governing structure, a program of educational activities, an Annual Meeting and special meetings as necessary. Corporators have the ultimate responsibility for the wellbeing of the Institute, and hold responsibilities which include:

Election of the members of the Board of Trustees.

Alteration, amendment, and repeal of the Corporation bylaws.

Approval of any long-term borrowing by the Corporation.

Authority to mortgage or otherwise encumber the real estate of the Corporation.

Authority to dissolve the Corporation.
Expectations
Corporators of the Institute are expected to become knowledgeable in its affairs and are expected to annually support the Institute as a philanthropic priority. Coming from diversified backgrounds, Corporators of the Institute willingly offer individual expertise and open doors in the communities in which they hold stature. Specifically, they include:

Individuals who will be personally helpful with fundraising efforts.

Individuals who are involved in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industries.

Individuals who are involved in the real estate or construction industries.

Individuals who have public relations expertise.
-
Individuals who have professional fundraising expertise.
-
Individuals with legal or fiscal expertise.
-
Individuals involved in the banking or investment industries.
-
Individuals with events expertise.
-
Individuals with public policy interests or political relationships.

Individuals involved in world-class research.
Participation
In their service as ambassadors, advocates and supporters of the Institute, the Corporators are expected to fulfill their valuable role by participating in the following sorts of activities:

Lending individual expertise to committee service.

Assisting actively in fundraising through personal giving and by reaching out to others to secure gifts.

Broadening the Institute's network of supporters and friends.
-
Identifying and recruiting new Corporators and Trustees.
