Profile
Dr. Magali Saint-Geniez, PhD, is an Investigator working in the D’Amore
lab. Before joining the Schepens Eye Research Institute, Dr.
Saint-Geniez trained as a graduate student with Dr. Yves Audigier at
the INSERM U397 in Toulouse, France. There, she developed her passion
for vascular biology, focusing more specifically on eye development and
pathologies. Today, her current research interests are concentrated on
the role of VEGF in the development and survival of the choroidal
vessels. She is also investigating the non-vascular functions of VEGF
in the eye, on lens development and survival of adult retinal neurons.
Finally, she is characterizing the phenotype of a transgenic mice
generated by the D’Amore Lab which features are similar to
age-dependent macular degeneration.
