Institute Holiday Schedule

  • New Year's Day: January 1

  • Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Birthday: Third Monday in January

  • President's Day: Third Monday in February

  • Patriot's Day: Third Monday in April

  • Memorial Day: Last Monday in May

  • Independence Day: July 4

  • Labor Day: First Monday in September

  • Columbus Day: Second Monday in October

  • Thanksgiving Day: Fourth Thursday in November

  • Institute Holiday*: Friday after Thanksgiving

  • Floating Holiday**: One day during December

  • Christmas Day: December 25


*The Institute will be closed the Friday following Thanksgiving in observance of Veteran’s Day and to provide employees with a four day weekend.


**The Floating Holiday is given at the discretion of the Institute and selection of the day is dependent upon the scheduling discretion of the employee’s supervisor.

Vacation

Regular full time staff and non-faculty professional employees earn 15 vacation days per year, accrued at a rate of 1.25 days per month. After 10 years of continuous employment, regular employees earn 20 days per year, accrued at a rate of 1.67 days per month. Employees working a regular part time schedule earn the same number of days per year based on the same length of service, but days are earned on a pro-rated basis depending on the employee’s part time schedule.

Faculty members and Directors earn 20 vacation days per year accrued at a rate of 1.67 days per month.

Employees at the Institute under special terms (i.e. awarded traineeship, fellowship, scholarship, or other training awards) will accrue vacation as provided by the award package.

Temporary employees are not entitled to paid vacation time. If employment status should change to regular at any time, then all time worked on a temporary or contract basis will be counted, on a pro-rated basis, towards time accrued.
